VISITA DEL GRAN MAESTRO DELL’ORDINE DI SAN LAZZARO DI GERUSALEMME AL PRESIDENTE DELLA REPUBBLICA DI MALTA

S.A.S. Don Francisco de Borbón Graf von Hardenberg-Fürstenberg, Gran Maestro dell’Ordine Militare e Ospedaliero di San Lazzaro di Gerusalemme e Gran Commendatore della Gran Commenda del Castello, con sede a Torri Lanzun a Mensija, San Ġwann, ha reso una visita di cortesia a Sua Eccellenza il Dottor George Vella, Presidente di Malta. Il Gran Maestro era accompagnato dal Cav. Paul Warren e dal Cav. Carmel Bonello, rispettivamente Commendatore e Commendatore Emerito della Gran Commenda del Castello.

Il Gran Maestro ha consegnato al Presidente di Malta un’icona dipinta a mano raffigurante „San Lazzaro – L’amico di Cristo“ dell’artista georgiano Aleksandre Iashagashvili, commissionata appositamente per questa occasione.

Il Gran Maestro si è recato a Malta in occasione di un doppio 50° anniversario: il 12 maggio 1973, infatti, il Castello Lanzun, o it-Torri ta‘ Lanzun come è conosciuto a Malta, è stato formalmente inaugurato dall’allora Gran Maestro dell’Ordine, Sua Eccellenza Don Francisco de Borbón y Borbón, come sede ufficiale mondiale dell’Ordine di San Lazzaro e anche come sede della Gran Commenda del Castello, una giurisdizione ecumenica e internazionale di questo nobile e antico Ordine con sede a Malta.

VISIT BY THE GRAND MASTER OF THE ORDER OF ST LAZARUS OF JERUSALEM TO THE PRESIDENT OF REPUBLIC OF MALTA

H.S.H. Don Francisco de Borbón Graf von Hardenberg-Fürstenberg, the Grand Master of the Military and Hospitaller Order of St Lazarus of Jerusalem and Grand Commander of the Grand Commandery of the Castello, based at Torri Lanzun in Mensija, San Ġwann, paid a Courtesy visit to His Excellency Dr George Vella, the President of Malta. The Grand Master was accompanied by Chev Paul Warren and Chev Carmel Bonello, respectively Commander and Former Commander of the of the Grand Commandery of the Castello.

The Grand Master presented to the President of Malta a hand-painted icon depicting ‘St Lazarus – The Friend of Christ’ by a Georgian artist Aleksandre Iashagashvili, which icon has been commissioned specifically for this occasion.

The Grand Master visited Malta to mark two 50th anniversaries as on 12th May 1973, Castello Lanzun, or it-Torri ta’ Lanzun as it is known in Malta, was formally opened by the then Grand Master of the Order, His Excellency Don Francisco de Borbón y Borbón, as the official worldwide headquarters of the Order of St Lazarus and also as the home of the Grand Commandery of the Castello, a Malta-based, ecumenical and international jurisdiction of this noble and ancient Order.
