Svetový deň boja s Hansenovou chorobou známou aj ako lepra.

The world will commemorate WORLD LEPROSY DAY next Sunday 29th January. It would be appropriate if the various jurisdictions organize some form of activity to promote interest in the battle against the ravages of this disease and to help support its victims. A dedicated fund-raising event would be ideal. The Order was set up specifically to assist the victims of this disease, but in recent decades a very small proportion of our philanthropic work has actually targeted this problem. Remember that  in the U.S. between 150-200 new cases are reported each year. In India about 200,000 new cases are reported annually, accounting for about a third of all cases reported worldwide. Let us not as an Order place the victims of Hansen’s Disease on our philanthropic backburner.

 

The Commandery of the West of the Grand Priory of America has suggested that we all participate in an effort to ring the Earth with the Light of Lazarus on World Leprosy Day.
